I was recommended Sapporo by my neighbor when I first moved into town about four years ago. Coming from a major city with countless affordable and high quality sushi options, I was not sure what to expect. While Sapporo is definitely on the pricier side, it has become something my family and I consider a special treat and it is always worth it. Over the years I have tried a wide variety of items here including sushi, sashimi, raw dishes, chicken katsu, and bibimbap. Everything is consistently fresh and beautifully prepared when dining in, though I will say that when I have ordered food to go, especially non-sushi dishes like the chicken katsu or bibimbap, they have not been quite as good as enjoying them in the restaurant. For me, the dine-in experience is where Sapporo really shines. What truly makes this place stand out is the owner, Nikki. She has proven herself to not only be an excellent business owner, but also a genuinely kind person. Nikki always goes above and beyond to make sure her guests are taken care of, and she is more than accommodating with adjustments based on preference. That personal touch makes every visit feel welcoming and memorable. Sapporo feels like a true hidden gem in town. It is not the kind of place you would expect to find here, and yet it continues to impress with both the quality of the food and the warmth of the service. The only small thing I have noticed is that the tables can sometimes feel a little tight, but that is not really something within their control and it has never taken away from the experience. I am so glad my neighbor introduced me to it, and I recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding sushi paired with genuine hospitality.

Need I say more? Just look at the caramelization on that carrot and the sear on those scallops! Every dish ordered is a balance of flavor and art. Connors Roll is a mus-try, and the beef rolled asparagus is just as hearty as those scallops. Nikki and the team are always so hospitable and welcoming, and make this place about the food and hospitality. We are local but would drive an hour plus for this-come give this a try you DMV folks!

I went here for the first time after a strong recommendation from a neighbor. I never imagined that I would be able to taste such high quality, beautiful and fresh sushi rolls and Japanese food here. I had the sushi rolls, salmon sushi, udon, and tempura and they were all absolutely amazing. The ingredients were all fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. It was worth the drive from Washington DC. Looking at the pictures makes me want to eat there again. The owner is friendly, pleasant and very caring of her neighbors. I will definitely visit again!!!!!

Me and my fiance had such an excellent experience here! We are not from this town so what seemed to be a quick trip for some food turned into one of the best parts of the night! The Lady working was so sweet, silly and kind to us and seemed to love her job. The food was fantastic! Highly recommend! We will be back if we ever come back to Waynesboro!

I absolutely love Sapporo. The food is amazingly always consistent and fresh. The owner is super sweet and I feel like they give you their best every day. They're my go-to treat to myself after a hard day. I highly recommend trying them out if you're in town.

Fiance and I came here for a little late dinner so it was just us and two other couples here. It was such a great experience! The owner was there and she has a wonderful personality. And the food was also very good! If you like Japanese food, come and give it it a try, you wont be disappointed

What kind of expression can you use to describe the best sushi I have had in the last I don’t remember how long ago? Food is Amazing with an A for Awesomeness! Special thanks to Miss Nikki for being such a wonderful host and our server Drake.
